Free Beer

About

Key of C, tempo 140

1983

A song I wrote in 1983 when I was attending the University of Texas and living in a student co-op in the 24 hour a day circus that was West Campus (with just a few updated references). Back then I was influenced heavily by early 80s bands like the very twitchy and snarky Oingo Boingo, which explains the spastic rhythms and goofy lyrics.

It should be obvious, but this song does not contain any deep thoughts whatsoever. The subject is beer, something that along with my wife Debbie and pizza, has been responsible for more joy in my life than anything else.

For the mix, I went for a loud, rude sound. The gain is probably up way too much, but that was the intention.
