“Son of Old Mannish Boy” is the album “Old Mannish Boy” was supposed to be – a collection of remixed songs I’ve written over the years contemplating my journey of growing older. Well, as we all know, OMB went down its own path as I approached my 63rd birthday, and became a collection of mostly new material. Since I had already finished most of the remixes and updated music videos, I spent my spare hours during the holidays (primarily for stress release) completing the original project. There is one new song about an Elvis-themed Zoltar machine I encountered one chilly and wet night in Monterrey, California (“A Hunka, Hunka Burning Wisdom of the Ancients”), but the rest are things stretching back to when I began this musical odyssey during the tail end of the COVID pandemic in early 2022, and includes the first song I ever wrote, “Betty and the Bear”, about the late, great Betty White and her love of large animals later in her life. I’m very happy with the final outcome of this project, and excited to finally get these songs “right” and in front of a larger audience. Enjoy!
